INTERIOR DESIGN
"Interior designer? . . . Oh, I didn't know you were a decorator!"
How many professional designers find themselves in this seemingly innocuous conversation? Your skin crawls and jaw muscles tighten, while your head and heart compete for a response that is appropriate which, more often than not, is easier said than done:
"No! I don't pick colors!
Well, yes, I suppose I do that; but I also do so MUCH more!"
Welcome to the world of Interior Design. After passing the rigorous NCIDQ exam in 1986, I thought that my biggest challenges were behind me. Nothing could have been farther from the truth.
